What are the applications of high pressure forged fittings? What are the different grades of forge fittings?
Engineering equipment is important for a proper set-up of houses, buildings and industries. Building a strong network is very important for the proper working and functioning of the systems to avoid future problems or mishappenings. Forged fittings are one of these fittings only that is important to hold a piping network together helping the piping parts to coordinate with each other properly. But this much information about the forged fittings is not enough, is it? There is more to these fittings than you know. In this blog, we are going to discuss forged fittings, their applications, different grades and the companies that manufacture and sell forged fittings in India. So, read this blog till the end for useful information regarding forged fittings.
What are Forged Fittings?
Forged fittings are fittings that are used to change the direction of the pipe or connect the piping system. The steel fittings are formed by producing them using heat and compressive forces and the compress lets the steel get into the shape as required. The forged fittings are stronger than any other kind of fittings produced with the help of other manufacturing processes. Forged fittings are most reliable and safe in usage, this is why these are preferred over any other kind of manufactured equipment. These fittings possess durability which makes them best for use in pipe fittings. It holds the piping network tighter and installation of these fittings prevents the piping system from leakage. Forged fittings are available in different shapes, sizes and dimensions which makes them fit for use. These are most commonly used for industrial use due to their varieties. Many industrial platforms and companies are manufacturing and supplying forged fittings in India. They produce these fittings according to the requirements of the target audience with standardised working. The manufacturing process of forged fittings is carried out by heating the billets and then forging them into the required shape by applying pressure. When compared to wrought steels, forging steels are found to be more durable and reliable due to their versatility.
Pressure class of Forged fittings
Forged pipe steel fittings are available in different pressure classes such as
#2000
#3000
#6000
#9000
Types of forged steel fittings
Forged fittings are of two types. They are called socket-weld fittings and threaded fittings. Socket weld fittings are the fittings that are used in the piping system to join recessed parts of pipes such as socket weld elbow, socket weld tees, socket weld reducers, couplings etc. Socket weld fittings are the permanent fittings done to completely and safely join a piping network. Socket weld fittings are installed by considering the factors like a strong piping network, its effect on preventing leakage in the pipes. These fittings help with the flow as well which means there will be improvised and better flow in the pipes. It is also cost-effective as there is not much expenditure in constructing socket weld fittings. They work well with pipes with small diameters and are ideal to use for pipes with a smaller diameter. Threaded pipe fittings are the fittings that have threads inside them. These kinds of fittings are best because they can be easily opened, the easiness comes with its threaded design only. It also saves a lot of time as not much time is required in its installation or removal. Threaded fittings can be adjusted according to the requirements and once they are installed there is not any chance of leakage in the piping system. Threaded fittings are used in many sectors like oil and gas industries, power station areas, household fittings etc. They are easy to maintain which is the reason why they are widely accepted until now. Threaded fittings have male and female versions of themselves too.
Grades of Forged Fittings
The forged fittings exhibit different grades as per the materials used to manufacture them. The forged fittings are available in various materials such as brass steel forged fittings, stainless steel forged fittings, carbon steel forged fittings, alloy steel forged fittings, duplex and super duplex forged fittings and nickel alloy forged steel fitting. There are many manufacturers of forged fittings in India that produce the fittings as per different grades and materials required by the target audiences.
Brass Forged Fittings
The grades of brass forged fittings are Brass CA 377, Brass CA 345, Brass SAE J530, Brass SAE J531 etc.
Stainless Steel Fittings
The availability of stainless steel forged fittings are in the grades 304, 304L, 309S, 310 S, 310 H, 316H, 316L, 317, 317L, 321 H, 347, 347 H, 904L etc.
Carbon Steel Forged Fitting
Carbon steel forged fittings are available in the grades F42, F52, F56, F60, F70.
Alloy Steel Forged Fittings
The grades of alloy steel forged fittings are F1, F5, F9, F11, F22, F91 etc.
Duplex and Super Duplex Steel Fittings
They are available in grades F44, F45, F51, F53, F60 and F61.
Nickel Alloy Forged fittings
Nickel alloy forged fittings are available in different grades such as UNS 2200 (Nickel 200). UNS 4400 (Monel 400), UNS 8825 (Inconel 825), UNS 6600 (Inconel 600), UNS 6601 ( Inconel 601) etc.
Application of High Pressure Forged Steel Fittings
High pressure forged fittings are manufactured according to their requirements in high-pressure applications with great reliability and consistency. The raw materials needed to manufacture high pressure forged fittings are chosen by evaluating critically, these are made from the highest and best quality raw materials. This is why high pressure forged fittings are ideal for high-pressure areas They are used in heavy industrial sectors because the types of machinery are big and the work carried out by these industrial sectors are done in a large quantity, usually with speed and high pressure and there are no fittings that are considered best other than these fittings. They are used in the oil and gas industry because it is an industry wherein the production of oil and petrochemical at high temperature is needed, it works best in high temperatures and can withstand it without deforming. This helps these industries to work effectively without caring about problematic situations. These fittings have a high tolerance rate which makes them best for use in industries like power generating sectors, petrochemical industries, oil industries. High forged fittings are also highly corrosive resistant which is why chemical industries use these fittings. The chemicals will completely ruin the pipe systems and corrode the fittings if not chosen by considering their pressure and temperature limit. This is why you will find their application widely and largely in chemical industries because of the safety it brings along and the properties it exhibits.
