Stub ends are fittings used in place of welded flanges where rotating back up flanges are required. They are mechanical joints that consists of two components: The Stub End, which is the a short length of the pipe, where one end is flared outwards and the other end is welded to the pipe. Lap joint stub end is the other type of stub end that is commonly used with lap joint flanges, in which the stub end forms the face of the flange. Stub ends are manufactured in stainless steel and are economical as well as non corrosive in nature as it is commonly used in various industries like Shipbuilding, Paper manufacturing, nuclear plants, petrochemical and fertilizers etc. They are best suited when constant dismantling and disconnection of pipes is needed, allowing inspection and thorough cleaning of the pipes.
